Catherine began her legal career as a Tax Specialist with KPMG, LLP in Los Angeles, California, where she focused on financial planning and business transactions for individual and corporate clients. After returning to New Orleans, Catherine sought to round out her legal experience by accepting a position with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. In her three years as a prosecutor, she was first chair on more than 100 judge trials and 25 mediations. Upon leaving the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, Catherine focused her practice on business transactions, commercial and financial lines litigation, securities investor disputes, and professional liability. In the aftermath Hurricane Katrina, Catherine handled commercial property and business interruption loss litigation, as well as building a construction litigation practice, which included disputes involving the Louisiana Private and Public Works Acts, the New Home Warranty Act and the Louisiana Condominium Act.

Catherine’s family obligations returned her to her hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana where she served as a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Alexandria. This role required management of all litigation related to the Operational Divisions of the City of Alexandria, specifically Public Works Division, Planning Division and Utility Division which included drafting and negotiating contracts between the City of Alexandria, private businesses, non-profits and the State of Louisiana. Catherine was also tasked with the complete revision of Chapter 28 City of Alexandria Land Development Code, which revision was adopted September 2015. Much of Catherine’s time with the City of Alexandria was spent overseeing the permitting process, construction and inspection of all residential and commercial building projects in the City of Alexandria.

After leaving public service, Catherine developed a diverse private practice in Alexandria which included representation of contractors, sub-contractors, owners and design professionals in construction industry disputes, directing all phases of complex litigation in the public and private sector. She also continued an active business practice which included formation and planning of businesses, joint ventures and LLCs. Her business practice also included drafting employee policies and litigating termination issues. In her years of practice, Catherine has drafted contracts, leases and property sales agreements.

In 2021, Catherine was elected by the residents of District 4 to represent them on the Alexandria City Council where she proudly served as President of the legislative branch of the City’s government. As President of the City Council, Catherine oversaw the Utility, Finance and Legal Affairs; Public Safety, Works and Transportation; Economic Workforce and Planning Development; Property and Zoning; and Community Affairs, Events and Services; and Personnel and Insurance Committees. Catherine, along with her fellow councilmembers drafted, considered and enacted all local laws that govern the City of Alexandria.

In January 2023, Catherine returned to New Orleans focusing on her practice on surety and construction litigation, assisting sureties with project takeovers, performance bond defaults, payment bond claims, bad faith claims and indemnity litigation. She has represented every type of entity involved in a construction project, including, owners, sureties, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. This background, coupled with her litigation experience, allows Catherine to expertly handle all aspects of a construction dispute. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal district courts.
